What it is
Plumbline is an early-warning monitor for stablecoins in DeFi. It continuously watches a set of stablecoins across several blockchains and flags when the on-chain conditions around a token start to look risky — often before that risk shows up in the token's price.
Think of it as a smoke detector for stablecoins. You don't need to watch a dozen dashboards yourself — Plumbline watches the on-chain plumbing for you and raises a hand when something looks off.
The sections below explain what the signals mean and how the status colors are decided, without the low-level details.
Why it exists
A stablecoin is supposed to hold its value, but the stress that eventually breaks a peg usually appears on-chain first: liquidity drains out of pools, borrowing against the token gets crowded, or someone moves an unusually large amount through the market. By the time the price visibly wobbles, the warning signs have often been sitting on-chain for a while.
Plumbline turns those on-chain signals into a simple, glanceable status — so you can react to the plumbing, not just the price.
How it works
For every token it tracks, Plumbline looks at four independent signals and rolls them into a single overall status. Each signal is graded green / yellow / red, and the overall status reflects the worst of the four — a token is only as healthy as its weakest signal.
How heavily the token is being borrowed against in lending markets where it's used as collateral. When the borrowable side of a market is nearly exhausted, it can become hard to exit positions — a classic stress point.
How balanced the token is inside its liquidity pools. A healthy pool holds a roughly even mix; when the balance tips heavily to one side, it's a sign liquidity is draining or the market is under pressure.
Whether unusually large trades or redemptions have moved through the token's markets recently. Big, sudden flows can precede — or signal — trouble.
How the token's total value locked is moving over 24h, 7d, and 30d. A sharp, sustained drop in TVL can signal that confidence is leaving a token, even while its other signals still look calm.
The colors escalate with concern: green means the signal looks normal, yellow means it's worth attention, red means it's clearly stressed. Statuses refresh automatically every 5 minutes, so what you see reflects recent on-chain state rather than a stale snapshot.
The dashboard shows each status at two levels. Local is the worst reading from any single market or pool — an early flag when one venue is under stress. Global blends across all of a token's venues, weighted by size — it moves later, but tells you whether stress is spreading rather than isolated. Reading them together separates a one-pool wobble from a token-wide problem.
What it covers
Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, HyperEVM, Monad, Optimism, Plasma.
Curve, Uniswap (v3 & v4), Balancer, Velodrome, Aerodrome, Pendle, Fluid, Morpho, and Euler.
A growing set of DeFi stablecoins and their staked / wrapped variants — for example USDe / sUSDe, DOLA / sDOLA, OUSD, USDai / sUSDai, and others. The current, complete list is always shown on the live dashboard, which is the source of truth as coverage expands.
Coverage grows over time as new pools, markets, and tokens are added.
Getting alerts
Beyond the live dashboard, Plumbline can notify you on Telegram when a token's status changes. You choose how noisy you want it to be:
Notifications fire on status transitions (not on every cycle), so you're told when something actually changes, not spammed with the same state.
Get Telegram alertsWhat it is not
Plumbline surfaces on-chain signals to help you make your own informed decisions. It doesn't tell you to buy, sell, or hold anything.
A green status is not a promise that a token is safe, and a red is not a prediction that it will fail. These are indicators built from public on-chain data, which can be incomplete or lag reality.
It watches the conditions around a stablecoin (liquidity, borrowing, flows), not just its price.
Always do your own research.
FAQ
How often does the data update?
Every 5 minutes, so the dashboard reflects recent on-chain state.
What does the "overall" status mean?
It's the worst of the four signals for that token — one red signal makes the token red overall. The dashboard shows this at two levels: Local (the worst single market or pool) and Global (blended across all of the token's venues, weighted by size).
A token is yellow/red — what should I do?
Treat it as a prompt to look closer, not as an instruction. Open the token on the dashboard to see which signal is elevated and where (which market or pool), then decide for yourself.
Why is a token showing "unknown" or looking stale?
Occasionally a data source for a specific chain is temporarily unavailable. The status reflects the most recent good reading; when the source recovers, it updates on the next cycle.
Which stablecoins / chains are supported?
See "What it covers" above; the live dashboard always shows the current, complete list.
Can I get notified automatically?
Yes — via Telegram, with a choice of "Red only" or "Yellow + Red." See "Getting alerts."
Is my data collected?
The only thing stored to notify you is your Telegram chat ID and your alert preference. No other personal data is required to use it.
